Help Shape the Future of Climbing in the Black Hills
Shape the BHCC’s Future!
Over the past year, the Black Hills Climbers Coalition (BHCC) has undergone major internal restructuring to better serve our mission. We’ve strengthened relationships with land managers, improved how we operate behind the scenes, and laid the foundation for long-term impact.
Now, we’re at a turning point—one where we can either continue operating as we are or take steps to expand. Before moving forward, we want to ensure our direction reflects the values and priorities of the climbing community.
As climbing in our region continues to grow, we want to ensure that BHCC is not just maintaining access, but actively protecting, improving, and securing climbing opportunities for future generations.
We’re asking for your input as we consider different directions the BHCC could take, including:
✔ Expanding conservation and stewardship efforts with stronger, more sustainable funding.
✔ Strengthening our advocacy for climbing access through direct engagement with land managers, policymakers, and private landowners.
✔ Exploring funding models that could support long-term initiatives, such as growing our membership base, securing grants, or hiring part-time staff.
✔ Increasing community engagement through more events, education, and climbing-related resources.
